Life with a 2 yr old!

Zachary is definatly 2! My goodness...wow! He tries my patience constantly..but I love him anyway! LOL! And he is at the age where he doesnt want to eat anything but 1 particular item...can you guess what that is? OLIVES! LOL! He is definately his mommas son!

HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY ZACHARY~!

5 hours and 6 minutes from now...Zachary will be 2!

Woah...thats crazy right? He's gonna be 2 @ 2:09am Oct 20th! Where does the time go! It seems like yesterday he was in his carrier, and sleeping the day away! Now he runs away from home, eats more than I do and is in a big boy bed! He got spoiled today with tons of great gifts from mommy, daddy, Auntie Lori, Uncle Darrick, Gramma T and Grampa T! Will post some pics from the birthday party we had tomorrow since blogger isnt allowing me to!..just a family one this year..bigger one next year!! I promise!

By the way, the markings on Zacharys bed are dwarven, from Lord of the Rings, and they spell out Zachary!!!

Well Zachary has proved his escape tendencies by our previous blog entry....so we decided it was time to bring over the custom made hobbit big boy bed Ian's dad had built Zachary. For his birthday his Gramma Thompson got him a bedroom set with his fave car Lightening McQueen on it (from CARS)...and they also got him a mattress...its a sealy..way to go kiddo...on your way to becoming a big kid. We went out today and got a guard rail for him, so he doesn't fall out...and set it up all pretty. Tonight's the test..we will see how he does...no noises coming from the bedroom so far!!! the worst day of my life so far..by far!!!

So heres the scenario...Zachary has just recently figured out he can get out of the crib..its on the lowest it can be keep in mind, and is in the stage where he crawls out of it and plays...well he also is still at that age where if he doesnt have an afternoon nap, he is VERY grumpy. He also likes to sleep with his bedroom door open so he can hear all the goings on of the house...our bathroom is opposite Zacharys room. Ok so fine...I put him down for a nap...I do some laundry...i poke my head in the doorway and he is sound asleep..so I take this opportunity to take the garbage out..i check again, he is still asleep. having to go to the sandbox (bathroom..) and have a shower, I decide to shut the door as not to wake him up...never had a problem..well I go to the bathroom, and something makes me go and check that he is ok..I was in there no more than 5 minutes, and Zacharys bed is empty....frantic I check the spare room (he likes to play in there), the play room...no Zachary...I run to the front of the house...no Zachary in the kitchen, Ians office, my scrapbooking room...no Zachary....I get to the front living room and notice in horror that my front door is open...I start panicking now...I scream his name...I run down my front steps into my backyard...no Zachary...I am hysterical by this point, and call my husband, running around our street barefoot yelling his name..hubby calls inlaws who head over right away...the 3 of us running around the neighborhood screaming ZACHARY...now he doesnt talk much, but he understands everything you tell him...I call 911...they ask me what he was wearing..do you think I could remember? I couldnt breathe, heart going a mile a minute..dispatch transfers me to RCMP, meanwhile Im still screaming his name...I get a cop on the phone, "yes my son is missing" ...by this point its been just over 30 minutes, and an extensive search thru the streets.....and who comes out of a backyard 6 houses down, covered in mud with a big smile on his face, ZACHARY....I ran to him...tears streaming down my face...Ian gets home, police show up, Cath shaking like a leaf, feeling like the worlds worst mother....I carry him back home...just so relieved he is ok... still today im shaky, and my voice is gone from screaming his name..and im getting a cold cos running around barefoot in -3 degree weather, with no jacket is not good for a body...we went to Canadian Tire and bought latch deadbolts for the 2 doors that go outside ..installed them...they will always be latched as long as we are inside... what a day....i have never been so scared in my whole life...and ive been thru a LOT!!! Life can throw a curve ball...in a blink of an eye...yikes!

We had a fabulous trip to see my parents and their new house..but we are very happy to be home! Its a perfect weekend to arrive at home too, its Canadian Thanksgiving...yum Turkey!!! Gotta make sure there are olives as well ;-) since Zach is now an olive hound like his momma! lions and tigers and bears OH MY~

Well I have been slacking in the blog department big time..but life has been pretty busy at the Thompson household....for one, we did some home renovating, giving Ian a private office that he has always wanted. We also (Zachary and I) have been on h olidays on Vancouver Island for the last 8 days...its gorgeous here. My parents new house is also a sight to be seen(pics to come when I am home from my trip...which is tomorrow)....We have gone on a lot of walks, explored the ocean side and seen wildlife. Very fun for our almost 2 year old lil boy. Speaking of..he turns 2 in 11 days..I cannot believe it...it seems like yesterday that we were told it was a lil boy. I have so many stories to share that have occurred in the last 2 years..from Zachary rolling over, to running...from his first word mum to a child who now constantly talks!! We also have Canadian Thanksgiving occurring when I return...so that will be lots of good times with my inlaws and that side of the family! I know they have missed Zachary the last week and a half we have been gone, and will be there with grins on at the airport tomorrow! Well I will do a more proper update when I am back home!!! For now I say TTFN!!! I probably wont get on for a few days to get settled again...but you can bet I will post pics of our trip, Zacharys 2nd birthday and more when I return! Oh and we found him the cutest lil' tiger costume for halloween....last year he was a lion....these are all costumes he has chosen for himself....wonder if next year he will choose a bear...lions and tigers and bears oh MY~ hahhaha!
